Not to wander/wonder too much off the topic of memorable characters who peopled Market Street and elsewhere in the City, but John you jogged the memory of my ‘summer buzz’ cut I received before the family vacation that alternated between heading up ‘The River’ or camping in the Sierra. My Dad always referred this haircut as a “Garibaldi”, apparently he and my uncles received similar treatment as kids from an Italian barber in the Western Addition who cut their hair before they took the ferry and train up to Camp Royaneh in Cazadero or old Sgt. Russell’s ranch in Tocaloma each summer in the 1910s & ’20s.
