This conundrum has cost me many a sleepless night and I posit yet another litnay of possibilities:

She was challenging her studentbody constituents by using the Socratic method.

She was admonishing said student body that their change might be calculated using a variable rate of exchange so best to give her the exact amount...which, I understand could fluctuate at her whim and if you spoke about Tahiti.

2:2-4 is the passage in the bible with Isaiah's swords into pruning shears nor practice war any more prophecy and, in the heat of the Vietnam War, she was perplexed, awaiting the divine state of elusive world peace.
